Giavanna Cuomo-Browne
Community Engagement Specialist
Giavanna Cuomo-Browne is the Coordinator of Community Engagement at the Buffalo Center for Health Equity (BCHE). A first-generation college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cazenovia College, Giavanna brings experience in mental health services, public health, and community-based advocacy to her work.
Originally from Queens, New York, but raised in Bainbridge, a small rural town in Upstate NY, Giavanna’s experiences have shaped her understanding of access, opportunity, and the environments in which we live influence our health and well-being. After moving to Buffalo in 2020, she continued building her career around public health issues, community health education, and advancing more equitable systems.
At BCHE, Giavanna builds relationships with residents, community organizations, and cross- sector partners to turn community priorities into meaningful action. She is especially proud of creating Jazz & Justice: Reclaiming the Sound, a community event that brings together music, culture, and public health advocacy to advance conversations around health equity and tobacco prevention. In 2026, she was also honored as a ChangemakeHERS Brunch honoree in recognition of her commitment to community impact, equity, and empowerment. She is passionate about creating spaces where community members feel heard, informed, and empowered to influence the decisions that affect their health.
Outside of work, Giavanna enjoys traveling, exploring new places, Pilates and fitness, and attending live music and events. One of her favorite places to visit in Western New York is Whirlpool State Park, where she enjoys hiking. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a veterinarian or a WNBA player. Looking ahead, she hopes to become fluent in Spanish, continue exploring the world, and one day write a book about her dog. If she could have any superpower, it would be super healing.
